I know that one size does NOT fit all. Not everyone wants an off the peg approach to their life event. We will work together to create a life ceremony that people will be talking about for years to come.
The key events in the lives of you and your loved ones are as unique as you are, so I begin crafting every ceremony with a blank sheet of paper and a meeting with you to really understand both what you want and who you are.
Every event has a beginning, middle and end, but your needs and wants will permeate every act, marking that time in a way you will remember forever.

Weddings
Right, you’ve said ‘yes’ and now you have the daunting situation in front of you of arranging your wedding.
You have some choices to make. Are you getting married in a church, registry office or somewhere abroad. Will there be one wedding or will you want to do the ‘legal’ bit elsewhere and have the celebration for your wider friends and family at another time.

As an Independent Celebrant we can work together to have your wedding celebration, wherever you want it and however you want it. Under water scuba wedding anyone?! Joking aside (and I’m not – it’s been done!) the sky is the limit, and let’s be honest, up in the air isn’t even the limit if you can find someone to take you there. We really can make your wedding as unique as you are.
Funerals
Time to say goodbye...
Funerals don’t have to be maudlin, stuffy affairs. Nor do they just have to be at the local crem, it can actually be anywhere. Be that a golf course, a local pub, cemetery or a natural burial ground, or indeed anywhere where the owner agrees. This includes where you decide to put your loved ones ashes.

Naming ceremonies and more
Naming ceremonies aren't just for kids and babies, they can be for adults too. When we think of a naming ceremony we often harken back to the days of Christenings and babies screaming their heads off as they are blessed and dunked! But there is so much more to it. Maybe you have divorced and want to recapture your previous name. Maybe you have gone through a transition – we all need to own our name and as an Independent Celebrant, I can help guide you to find the right approach for you.
POA
I am an anthropologist, teacher of aerial arts, jazz singer and qualified registrar. I qualified in 2019 but found the official approach to celebrations linear and restrictive, which is why I followed the path of independent celebrancy.
The study of anthropology is about understanding humans and the way we connect to each other and to our world around us.
Rites of Passage, such as marriage, having a baby, coming of age, and passing away are all intrinsic parts of the discipline.
I have studied marriage and burial rites from the point of view of many different societies and populations which provides me with a unique perspective and an understanding of what people all over the world share.
With Independent Celebrancy comes the flexibility to include everything that is important to you, be that a faith, symbolism or anything that you deem part of your existence that needs to be represented. My approach to your ceremony is to put your needs and wants at the forefront. I always start with a blank piece of paper.
